Tom Robertson and his wife Jean have developed relationships for eternal impact with thousands over the decades!

Tom Robertson to Retire after 53 Years of Service

Tom Robertson will retire in May after a long tenure of service to campers and staff.  Through the years, he and his older brother, Ron, and their wives, served in virtually every area of camp, fulfilling the gospel-centered mission of Fort.

Executive Director, Todd Leyden reflected, “I am blessed to continue to further the legacy created by Tom and the Robertson family, the board and the multitude of staff and volunteers throughout the past seventy years who love working alongside the Lord through camp.”

Please join us in praising the Lord for Tom and Jean for their lives of devotion and service to campers.

The next time you see Tom, be sure to tackle him with the “Fort Hug”!

The season has come for a new barn… join us for a Barn Raising Shindig!

The horsemanship program has been a powerful part of Fort’s ministry since the beginning.

It’s no secret that Fort’s horsemanship program is a powerful tool for ministry. Pony rides for the little ones, trail rides, winter sleigh rides, Cowboy Truth, and of course a wagon ride to Wrangler’s Breakfast; each experience brings adventure, connection to God and His creation, and time with family and friends.

However, the main barn, tack house, and the loafing shed need serious attention to accommodate the number of horses, as well as the care of the animals. It’s definitely time to build a new barn, so we are hosting a Barn-Raising Shindig! Would you join us April 12 in beautiful Manitowish Waters, as Fort Friends from all over gather for great food, fun & fellowship, and to hear how God is using horses to impact lives for eternity? As you enjoy entertainment, music, and a silent auction, we will invite you into the future of Fort as we raise funds to make a new barn (Stables) possible.

Can’t attend in person, but want to get involved? You can donate an item to the silent auction, bid on the auction (opening soon) or participate as a corporate sponsor for the event. Find out more details here.

It’s about more than horses: horsemanship at Fort is about sharing powerful gospel truth that penetrates hearts in a unique way!.

A time for ministry leaders to rest, reconnect, and reset!

Calling all ministry leaders! Do you desire a couple of quiet days in nature to just be?

No work. No ministry responsibilities. No dishes. Does time to enjoy God’s creation in the Northwoods and quiet spaces to have time alone call out to you? Fort Wilderness, along with Jonathan Misirian, lead pastor of Southbrook Church, invite you to find rest for your soul. It’s a chance to enjoy God’s great creation and an opportunity to connect with others in ministry.

Our desire is to provide a place to rest (disconnect and recharge with quiet time), reconnect (talking with and supporting others in ministry), and reset (if you wish, there is space for your own ministry community to meet and plan).

The Lord sustains us through every season

God is there to sustain us, regardless of what season we find ourselves in.

In every season of life, God provides exactly what we need. Sometimes, it may not be in the form we expect, but His provision is always perfect and timely.

During this winter season, it can feel like the world is cloaked in darkness. With a lack of sunlight impacting our body’s ability to produce serotonin, melatonin, and vitamin D, we can begin to feel listless and depressed. Yet have you ever noticed how BRIGHT winter days can be? Here in the Northwoods, where winters are harsh, long, and dark, God, in His infinite wisdom, has given us bright, white snow. Snow, with its pristine whiteness, reflects the limited sunlight we receive, brightening our surroundings and lifting our spirits. Even in the absence of direct sunlight (and even at night), the snow amplifies the light we do have.

I don’t know what kind of season you are currently finding yourself in. It may be a season of abundance and joy, but it’s quite possible you are in a dark season of uncertainty or sorrow.  We can trust in God’s love and provision, reflected in our lives, especially during our darkest times. He sustains us by giving us what we need to endure and thrive, even when we feel we lack the warmth and light we desire. Trust in His timing and His ways and look for those little ways He is sustaining you: He knows exactly what we need in every season.

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
