Adventure Outpost
Adventure Outpost, also known as ‘AO’ is Fort’s summer-only youth camp site. Located two miles down the road from Main Camp, AO is a place where young people can take age-appropriate steps of maturity, experience adventure, and grow their faith.

Camping at Adventure Outpost
Cabins
There are 6 well-maintained cabins that sleep ten campers and two counselors. These cabins provide a rustic camping experience – no electricity – and are located a short walk from the bathroom facility.

Bathrooms
AO has modern bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Counselors accompany campers to the restroom during the night.

Dining
Trained cooks and staff prepare classic Fort meals in a state-inspected kitchen.

Pavillion
The place where all meals are served and where campers can enjoy activities. The building also houses a cozy fireplace and the Canteen.

Infirmary
There is an infirmary on site with a nurse on duty 24/7. If your child gets sick, this facility has a dedicated sleeping area. In the event of an emergency, EMS is on site within 10 minutes and a modern hospital is a 25-minute drive away. Fort also has a trained Safety and Security team on call that responds when needed.

The Field
So much fun happens in the field! From water games to prepping gear for an overnight camping trip, this versatile space is loved by many.

The Ridge
Overlooking Blair Lake and surrounding a central fire pit, this space is ideal for sharing memories, stories, and praise songs.

The Garden
Campers and staff care for the garden as part of their daily activities. Fresh veggies are taken to the kitchen and incorporated into meals.

Blair Lake
This beautiful, 19-acre lake is accessible only to Fort Wilderness campers. Trained lifeguards supervise all water activities.

The Speaker Cabin
A dedicated living space for the weekly camp speakers, this cabin is equipped with electricity and a mini fridge, and sleeps up to 4 people. It is within walking distance of the bathroom and shower facility.

FAQ’s:
Do the cabins have electricity?
Camping at AO is truly a rustic experience! Cabins have no electricity and are lit with battery-powered lanterns.
Can my child bring a phone or smart watch?
We ask that campers leave all technology, including phones, smart watches, tablets, etc. at home during their time at camp. Camp is an important place for kids to disconnect from devices and truly experience the Lord in the outdoors. Counselors and staff carry cellphones in case of emergencies.
If your camper accidentally brought a device, don’t worry! We will store it in a locked cabinet and return it at the end of the week.
Does AO have Wi-Fi?
No! This site is unplugged.
How does AO handle allergies? Is AO a nut free facility?
Kitchen staff works hard to make our meals allergy friendly. It is crucial that parents and guardians list all allergies on their camper’s health form so the kitchen can make accommodations. If the allergy is not known ahead of time, we cannot guarantee it will be accommodated. Please email no less than 2 weeks before the first day of camp. Contact the Youth Camp Food Service Director (Janet) at janetmer@fortwilderness.com.
AO is a nut free facility – this means we do not have any products in camp that are made with nuts or made in a facility with nuts. If campers receive packages that contain these products, we will keep them safe and return them at the end of the week. This includes homemade products since we cannot guarantee there wasn’t cross-contamination in the cooking process.
