Welcome to Kids Camp! Are you excited for a great time at Fort Wilderness? We sure hope so. We are getting ready for an awesome week of camp at Adventure Outpost! As you prepare, there are a few things we wanted to share with you:
For 70 years, Fort Wilderness has been using creation, relationships and God’s Word to help people to know and experience God. As we head into the next 70 plus years, our mission is still the same. In thinking about this summer, we want campers to consider the question: “What do you mean when you say ‘God’?”
The theme for summer 2026 is YHWH: The God Who Is. We do not have a theme verse because all of God’s Word – from beginning to end – is revealing who God is. This theme is meant to help campers return to a foundational understanding of who God is.
We’re so excited for your arrival and have an incredible week planned just for you! Along with amazing Bible teaching, you’ll enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing, capture the flag, the low ropes course, a campout, and so much more.
To wrap up the week, we’ll blast off into our Bugs Life-themed banquet! Feel free to bring a costume and join us for a fun celebration. We can’t wait to see you at camp!
Your speaker for the week is Rich Giles!
Rich is excited to share the love of God and many attributes of “who He is” with Kids camp this year. He has more than 15 years of experience leading middle schoolers, and also countless efforts helping share the love of Christ with kids at VBS every year with his wife Connie at their previous church in Milwaukee. After more than 20 years experiencing and enjoying the incredible ministries at Fort Wilderness as campers and volunteers, Rich and his wife Connie listened the Lord’s tugging, and chose to leave Milwaukee (and his 34 years at a fortune 100 company.) They moved to the North Woods- where his wife Connie has her ‘dream-job’ as a full time cook at Fort Wilderness.
Campers have a special banquet dinner together complete with a fun and sometimes silly theme. To wrap up the week, we’ll blast off into our Bugs Life-themed banquet!
Feel free to bring a costume and join us for an out-of-this-world celebration.
Arrival & Departure times:
Camp begins on Saturday – Check in: 2pm-4pm
Campers depart on Friday – Pick up will be at Adventure Outpost for Kids Camp. This is a change from years past.
NEW THIS YEAR – PARENT PROGRAM AT PICK UP – 9:45-10:45am
We are changing the way we do pick up for your camper. Our hope and desire is to create a time that leads to deeper connection, relationship, and a smoother transition out of camp.
There will be 2 main changes:
After the parent program is over, you will have the opportunity to walk around camp and allow your camper to show you their favorite spaces and meet their favorite people!
Due to the challenge of the one-way road going in and out of Adventure Outpost, we have put together a schedule for you to better understand how the morning will flow.
From 9:15 – 10:00am the road to AO will be IN ONLY.
From 10:00 – 11:30am the road to AO will be OUT ONLY.
Please do not arrive before 9:15am. If you’re early, feel free to stop at Main Camp (6180 Wilderness Trail) for restrooms.

Camper Pick-Up Safety
To ensure a smooth and secure camper pick-up process, all parents or guardians must present a photo ID at check-out. Please remind anyone authorized to pick up your child to bring their ID. All approved individuals must be 18 years or older.
Food Allergies
You will need to make sure any food allergies are sensitivities are listed in the registration form. If your child has a severe allergy or you have questions for our Head Cook, you can email Connie Giles at conniegiles@fortwilderness.com. Adventure Outpost is also a nut free facility. For the safety of all campers, please do not send any packages containing any type of nuts or made in a facility with nuts. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our camp a safe environment!
