Celebrating all His Gifts… Including SNOW!
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…” James 1:17
I first came to Fort Wilderness in the winter, way back in high school (a long time ago!). I still remember it clearly: the snow-covered woods, the hush of the forest, the crunch of snow under my boots, the crystal clear night sky, and the wind whispering through the frozen trees. Winter has a way of slowing us down and drawing our hearts to the Lord. What a gift!
That same sense of wonder is here again this year. After a couple of winters with little snow, the Northwoods is blanketed in white! With it comes tubing, broomball, cozy cabins, skiing, hot coffee, and moments to pause, breathe, and rest in God’s presence. In this season, we’re reminded that Jesus is the greatest gift, and every good blessing flows from Him.
The ski trails groomed, the fires are stoked, and the coffee is hot – we can’t wait to see you this winter!

A Gift Worth Investing in: Support the Servant’s Fund!
One of God’s greatest gifts to Fort Wilderness is the people who serve here. Nearly forty-five missionary and apprentice staff care for guests and campers year-round, supported by over 700 volunteers. Often behind the scenes, these men and women show God’s provision and grace in action.
Eight years ago, the Fort family created the Servant’s Fund to support new staff as they responded to God’s call. That fund will be fully used by the end of this year, leaving little margin for staffing needs or transitions.
As you reflect on the good gifts God has entrusted to you, we invite you to consider a generous year-end gift to help replenish the Servant’s Fund. Your generosity will ensure those who serve at Fort can continue pouring into lives and sharing God’s love for years to come.
From our Family to Yours…
Before we sign off, we’d love to share a little Christmas joy with you. Our staff put together a short video greeting as a virtual Christmas card: straight from the woods of Fort Wilderness to you.
Students at youth camp spend time nourishing their minds (and souls) with GOOD things!
Thank you for being part of the Fort Family. Whether you come see us as a camper, you give to sustain the ministry, or you pray for God’s work here, YOU are a gift to US. We pray this Christmas season brings you rest, hope, and reminders of God’s faithfulness.
Merry Christmas, Fort Family!
On behalf of all of us at Fort, Heather
