We care about safety!
At Fort Wilderness Ministries, we prioritize the safety and well-being of every child entrusted to our care. We uphold the highest standards of child safeguarding, implementing rigorous safety protocols and continuous staff training to create a secure and nurturing environment. Our dedicated team is fully committed to providing a safe space where children can learn, grow, and explore their faith. Parents can have confidence that their child’s safety is always our top priority.
Our child safeguarding measures
Staff Background Checks
All staff, volunteers, and speakers undergo a thorough vetting process including background checks, interviews, and external references.

Use of public spaces and visibility
Transparency and accountability are vital in all interactions with children. Interactions are open and observable to others to maintain safety and transparency.

Emergency Training
Designated staff receive robust emergency procedure training. This includes but is not limited to severe weather situations, safety/security events, medical emergencies, etc.

Rule of Three
For safety and accountability, there will always be at least three people present; for example, two adults and one or more children, or two or more children and one adult.
Ongoing child safeguarding training
All summer staff and volunteers continually train in child safeguarding best practices and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for children.
